Product Designer

About this role:

As a Staff Product Designer on the Web Experiences team at Samsara, you will play a key role in crafting and optimizing the core web experience that powers how customers engage with our platform. This team is responsible for building intuitive, scalable, and high-impact experiences across our product suite.

We’re looking for a strong generalist with deep expertise in visual and interaction design, paired with a highly collaborative mindset. You should be passionate about creating polished, user-friendly experiences at scale, working closely with cross-functional partners to ensure a high-quality, consistent, and efficient user experience across Samsara’s web platform.

This role requires someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution—from designing complex workflows and refining UI components to partnering with engineering for pixel-perfect implementation and collaborating across multiple product teams to drive alignment.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US.

You should apply if:

  • You have strong visual and interaction design skills: You can craft elegant, scalable UI patterns and interactions that make complex workflows intuitive.
  • You enjoy working across multiple product areas: You thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment where you can flex across different parts of the web experience and collaborate with multiple teams.
  • You’re passionate about design consistency and usability at scale: You care deeply about design systems, accessibility, and ensuring a seamless experience across different features and teams.
  • Collaboration is central to how you operate: You enjoy working with designers, engineers, and PMs to refine experiences, iterate on solutions, and align on shared goals.
  • You’re both strategic and detail-oriented: You can think big about how our web experience should evolve, while also sweating the details on UI polish and microinteractions.

In this role, you will:

  • Design high-quality, scalable UI patterns and workflows that improve usability and efficiency across Samsara’s web platform.
  • Own and refine interaction models that help users navigate complex information, reducing friction and improving discoverability.
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure high-quality design implementation, including detailed specs, pixel-perfect execution, and UI motion behaviors.
  • Partner with multiple product teams to create consistent, cross-product experiences that align with Samsara’s design system and user needs.
  • Contribute to and refine design system components where needed, ensuring patterns are scalable and well-documented.
  • Advocate for accessibility and usability best practices, ensuring that Samsara’s web experiences are intuitive and inclusive.
  • Work directly with customers and internal stakeholders to validate design decisions, gather feedback, and continuously refine the user experience.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 7+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing web-based UI/UX design.
  • Expertise in interaction and visual design, including layout, hierarchy, typography, and motion.
  • Fluent in Figma, including components, prototypes, and advanced UI detailing.
  • Experience working closely with engineers, ensuring seamless design handoff and high-fidelity implementation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive experiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams, balancing different product needs while maintaining a cohesive web experience.

An ideal candidate also has:

  • A track record of designing and shipping enterprise SaaS experiences.
  • Experience working with or contributing to a design system.
  • Experience conducting or integrating user research into the design process.
  • A track record of strategic influence, driving alignment across teams, securing buy-in, and shipping impactful improvements.
